The #1 rule in praying for results is to base your prayer on promises from God’s Word!
Prayer is a personal conversation directed to God in casual, informal speech that acknowledges our total dependence on Him for resources and guidance for ourselves and others. It is a channel through which God’s will (which is His Word) is brought to earth. The #1 rule in praying for results is to base your prayer on promises from God’s Word. Praying God’s Word is simply praying the Scriptures or praying in line with the Scriptures. God’s part is providing you with His Word and your part is putting Him in remembrance of that Word.
The following 8 steps reveal how to pray effective prayers:
- Decide what you want from God.
- Be specific and definite enough to recognize the answer when it shows up
- Faith is a measurable force –so operate within your level of faith according to the law of growth (Mark 4:28)
2. Find Scripture that promises the answers you need. (2 Peter 1:3-4; Hebrews 4:2)
3. Ask the Father in Jesus’ Name for the thing(s) you desire. (John 16:23-24)
4. Believe that you receive when you pray. (You have to believe you have it now before you get it in the physical. A lack of faith would say, “God is going to do” something. This is not faith. It will not work. (Mark 11:24)
5. Bind Satan over your request and loose the angels to cause your desire to come to pass. (Matthew 18:18; Hebrews 1:13-14)
6. Guard your mind against doubt. (Matthew 14:29-31)
- Satan uses doubt to steal the Believer’s blessings; this is why step 2 is so important.
- Cast down the mental pictures of defeat. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
- Meditate constantly on the promises you have based your request upon. (Proverbs 4:20-23)
- Develop a mental picture of success. (Hebrews 11:17-19)
- Remember, thoughts are governed by observation, association, and teaching. (Mark 4:24; 5:40; 1 Samuel 17:10-11,16,23-24; Romans 10:17)
7. Constantly thank God for the answer and for what He has done in your life. (Philippians 4:6)
8. Align your words and actions. Make sure that every word and action relative to what you have asked God for agrees with your prayers. You’ll need to watch your body language and speak words that match what you believe you receive. (James 2:20-22; James 3:10)
