THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD.
The Holy Spirit is Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Holy. He is co-equal, co-existent, and co-eternal with the Father and Son.
(Acts 5:1-4)
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE THIRD PERSON OF THE GODHEAD. (Matthew 3:16-17)
The Holy Spirit is a distinct and separate member. (I John 5:7)
God, the Father, loved the world and developed a plan of redemption.
God, the Son (Jesus), carried out His Fathers’ plan by paying with His own blood, for man’s redemption.
God, the Holy Spirit, unveils and makes real the plan of redemption in the hearts of men.
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON. (John 14:15-18)
The Holy Spirit is not an “it.” He is not “influence.” He is not a “feeling.” He is not power, not gifts, and not praying in tongues.
He influences. He manifests in power. He manifests in tongues. He gives gifts.
The Holy Spirit is a person.
SEVEN WAYS THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES:
1. COMFORTS – He cheers us up and causes us to become happier. He encourages us. He gives us support in times of distress, trauma, or pressure from adverse/negative circumstances.
2. STRENGTHENS – He energizes us, makes us strong, refreshes/replenishes us, and gives us power to resist strain or stress.
3. TEACHES – He teaches us how to understand the Bible. He teaches us how to do natural things in our everyday lives. He gives instruction, interpretation, and explanation.
4. GUIDES – (Counsels) He gives us direction; he shows us the right way to go. He reveals to us “when” to act (i.e. decision-making).
5. PRAYS (Intercessor/Advocate) – When we do not know what to pray, the Holy Spirit helps us to pray for ourselves and others according to the will of God. He also prays for us and pleads our case to the Father.
6. HELPS – He makes things easier for us by providing assistance.
7. ABIDES (Standby) – He is always there. He never leaves us. He is an abiding presence.
The Holy Spirit is here to help us, but we have to believe that He actually will help us. In order to access the help of the Holy Spirit, we must use our faith. Simply ask the Holy Spirit for help when you need comforting, strength, guidance, someone to be there for you, someone to teach you, or if you need prayer. He is an “ever present help in time of need.”
